Jen Jordan (JER-dun) is often described as a lawyers’ lawyer. Her consistent and tireless advocacy for the rights of others have not only defined her legal career – spanning over two decades – but also the years she spent in the State Senate earning her a reputation as one of the smartest and hardest working senators at the Capitol and earning her the respect of members of both parties.

A transplant from South Georgia, Jen grew up in Dodge County. The oldest daughter of a single mother who worked as a hairdresser. Jen witnessed her mother’s perseverance and learned the value of hard work. But also learned that hard work can only take you so far. Realizing very early the importance of community and learning that we all need a little help sometimes. And she got that. Whether from her teachers at Dodge County High School or from the Georgia policies that allowed her to go to college as one of the very first recipients of the HOPE scholarship, Jen has never forgotten where she comes from and how she could not have been able to have the life she has today but for the help she received every step of the way.

While working to pay her way through school, Jen graduated from Georgia Southern magna cum laude. She then went on to graduate in the top 10% of her class from the University of Georgia School of Law, serving on Georgia Law Review and the law school’s National Moot Court Team. After law school, she spent a year clerking for Judge Anthony A. Alaimo a federal judge revered in legal circles for his tough, no-nonsense approach and incredible sense of fairness.

Since then, her legal work has focused mainly on complex civil cases involving the victimization of consumers or involving catastrophic injury to an individual. She has fought to shut down predatory lenders, to prevent mortgage companies from wrongfully foreclosing, and to force health insurance companies to cover lifesaving cancer treatments. While her cases vary in subject matter, there is a consistent theme –holding the powerful accountable when they hurt people by breaking the law.

In 2022, Jen was the Democratic nominee for Georgia Attorney General. Although she was ultimately unsuccessful in her attempt to win the office, she received more votes than any other Democratic candidate for statewide constitutional office, including the Democratic gubernatorial candidate. Jen counts herself lucky to practice law at The Summerville Firm in Atlanta with some of the smartest lawyers in Georgia. She continues to produce a Georgia political podcast called VoteHer with Mara Davis (a well-known media personality in Atlanta) and Teri Anulewicz (a former state representative from Cobb County). She has also provided legal and political commentator as a contributor to CNN.

Jen currently lives in Chastain Park area ofAtlanta with her husband, also a lawyer, Lawton Jordan, originally from Augusta, and their two children, Lawton (20) and Cokie (16)
