Elizabeth has enjoyed a varied legal career, positioning her well to tackle the dynamic challenges that are The Summerville Firm’s signature.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Elizabeth attended both college and law school at Duke University, earning magna cum laude honors in both. She began her legal career as a law clerk to United States District Judge Orinda D. Evans of the North District of Georgia, after which she spent several years as a litigation associate at a large Atlanta firm. Duringa four-year stint in Madison, Wisconsin, Elizabeth worked as counsel at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, primarily representing the University’s medical and other health sciences schools, and then joined a Milwaukee-based firmas a health care associate. After moving back to Atlanta, Elizabeth returned to chambers, spending more than 16 years with the Georgia Supreme Court, where she worked as a Staff Attorney to Supreme Court Justices Carol W. Hunstein, Britt C.Grant, Shawn Ellen LaGrua, and Andrew A. Pinson.

After launching two of her three sons off to college, Elizabeth pivoted back to private practice. She joined The Summerville Firm as a partner in September 2023, where she utilizes her legal writing acumen, breadth of subject matter experience, and deep knowledge of appellate practice and procedure to assist the firm’s clients in all stages of litigation, with a focus on appeals.

Outside of the office, Elizabeth is an avid yogi, captain of her neighborhood ALTA tennis team, and pescatarian cook. She lives in Decatur with her youngest son, a fluffy four-year-old Cavapoo, and a very fat orange tabby.
